2019…Let’s go!

Happy New Year to everyone! I really cannot believe that I am writing this blog post in 2019. Every school year seems to go by quicker and quicker, and this one has gone into hyperdrive since I started my DLL journey. I just finished my fourth class in the Digital Learning and Leading program at Lamar University and I would not have it any other way. I have enjoyed every minute of my stressful, yet amazing start to this eighteen-month journey.

I began by learning the intricacies of the growth mindset, which has changed so much of what I do in my classroom. Then I jumped in head first, creating this ePortfolio/website of awesomeness. Every time I create something new and click ‘publish’, it gives me another boost of energy to reach my students and do everything that I can to help them be all they can be. There have been so many instances of new and exciting ways to make learning better and more about my students with each and every assignment and post.

When I started thinking about starting my Masters, I kept contemplating whether I had the time and energy to put 100 percent into something like this. I knew that I had procrastinated long enough (over 7 years), but I did not want to take away from what I do for my students on a daily basis. It did not take long to realize that this was going to give me even more for my students; not less. As I prepare to start another course, I begin to wonder what else it will help me accomplish as the school year continues at its outlandish pace. Batter up (I mean it is under 40 days till pitchers and catchers report for Spring Training). Here we go!

And I almost forgot…I start back tomorrow with a bang! I will be attending and presenting at the First Annual Castleberry ISD Digital Learning Day 2019 (#CISDDLDay) where I will get the honor of meeting Kasey Bell of Shake Up Learning. I cannot wait for what tomorrow and the rest of this school year have to bring.
